Like most merchants in the area, Magdi now manufacturers pillow and comforter covers. A very simple but effective method is used to make such items. Patterns are first traced on a piece of paper. Holes are then punched in the paper with a pin to outline the pattern. By laying the paper on a piece of fabric and tapping it with a bag of charcoal dust the design is transfered to the material. Pieces are cut out and painstakingly sewn by hand onto a backround. Look at some of the designs and imagine using this method to create them! Thank goodness you can use the pattern more than once...
