Scott & Dad hike to Greenleaf Hut
Scott and I decided to hike to a hut together. We drove to New Hampshire and spent the night prior to our hike at the Highland center.
We drove over to Franconia Notch in the morning and set out to hike Agony Ridge which can be seen behind us.
Scott posed by the trailhead sign.
We hiked through the rain and fog.
The trail rose steadily...
Lafayette was in and out of view.
But, before we knew it, were were at Greenleaf hut!
The hut was warm and inviting.
We spent the afternoon in the dining area playing cards, drinking tea and hot chocolate and eating yummy snacks.
We also claimed bunks to sleep in.
When we could see Mt. Lafayette the view was spectaular.
After a hot dinner one of the crew did a presentation local plants.
A fair number of us marched out to watch the sunset.
We awoke to find fog in the valleys below.
After breakfast we set out for the climb down, this time in much better weather.
We could clearly see Agony Ridge before us.
The views were much better on the way down! After we got to the car we stopped at Flatbread Pizza in North Conway, then drove home. Scott did VERY well on the hike, and I'm very proud of him! He's well on his way to being a jackrabbit.
