Plane Castle, Scotland
Our home in Scotland was the four story tower in Plane Castle. The castle ruins were purchased in 1991 by a retired Episcopalian minister who promptly began restoration work.
The ground floor featured a kitchen which quickly became our most used room. We ate at least one meal a day here. Breakfast every day, plus many dinners. It was also a good place to relax, play or read.
The upper floors of the tower are reached by a spiral staircase.
The first floor (second floor to us americans...) was a dining hall, complete with fireplace! We had several dinners in here.
The next floor up (third floor if you're keeping track) had two bedrooms and the tower's only bathroom.
the fourth and final floor had lovely views of the surrounding area, and could be used as an additional sleeping area.
Outside the castle were beautiful gardens.
The tower itself had an impressive door.
The castle was beautifully lit at night.
