The Edraduor Distillery
We took the tour, which began with a video on the history of scotch and this distillery, a tasting and a display of historical distillery artifacts.
Next we headed to see where all the magic happens!
We saw how the grain enters the building, and is cooked to form a mash. The spent grain from the mash is fed to cows.
The liquid from the mash is cooled then piped into great fermenters.
After fermentation the liquid is distilled twice in great copper stills. The stills are heated at the bottom and the vapor drawn off at the top in large coils that are cooled by water from a stream running through the distillery.
The distilled liquid is aged in oak barrels. Edradour uses seasoned barrels purchased from other distilleries.
