Hanmer Springs

We left Stone Jug Farm late in the afternoon and arrived in Hanmer Springs at sunset, a celestial event we missed that day due to the heavy rain that had moved in. We were up early the following morning to visit the thermal park for which the town is named. It featured several regular swimming pools a whole string of small, soaking pools connected by streams (above), some very hot soaking pools and a large pool for children to play in, all heated geothermally. (Below) Though the rain from the night before had stopped, the breeze was still quite raw, so the pools felt wonderful!

The large children's pool featured two very long water slides. Scott did not meet the height requirement, but Jay, Amanda and Josh had a great time racing down the slides. Their favorite was the one painted black, as it was pitch dark inside. The twists and turns really take you by surprise when you can't see them coming. Scott had his own worries, though, when a giant iguana ate him. (Bottom)
