Snuggles the Octopus

We spent quite a bit of time watching Snuggle the octopus getting fed before we left. The guide explained that octopi are quite intelligent, and feeding time provided a chance to put their brains and bodies to work. She placed a small (dead) fish in a jar, after carefully rubbing the fish on the outside of the jar to scent it, hand tightened the cap and dropped it in with Snuggles. Snuggles pick up the jar and set to work opening it, having smelled what was inside. Though we did not wait to see, we were assured that in a matter of hours Snuggles would have the jar open. He certainly was working hard on it when we left. (bottom)
